MU Stage 2 - Core Measures

Core 2 : e-Prescribing

Measure Overview : Electronically send prescriptions to pharmacy and have drug formulary enabled for the entire reporting period.

Denominator : Number of prescriptions written for drugs requiring a prescription in order to be dispensed other than controlled substances during the EHR reporting period

Numerator : The number of prescriptions in the denominator generated, queried for a drug formulary and transmitted electronically.

Stage 2 Goal : 50%

Exclusion :

1.Provider who writes fewer than 100 prescriptions during the EHR reporting period.

2. Provider who does not have a pharmacy within their organization and there are no pharmacies that accept electronic prescriptions within 10 miles of the provider's practice location at the start of his/her EHR reporting period.

ChARM EHR Workflow :

Procedure to enable eRx :

  1. Go to Settings > Encounter > eRx section.
  2. Click on the Action icon next to the provider and Enable eRx.
  3. Follow the instructions provided in eRx Setup page and upload the requested documents.

Procedure to enable Drug Formulary :

Once eRx is enabled, send a request to support@charmehr.com to enable drug formulary for your account.

Once eRx and Drug formulary are enabled, follow the steps below to electronically send prescriptions to pharmacy.

  1. Open new encounter from 'Patient Dashboard' or 'Calendar > List View'.
  2. Choose the required Chart Type.
  3. Go to Recommendation > Rx section.
  4. Use 'Instant Add' or 'Choose from Templates' option and add drugs.
  5. Check the formulary status of the drug based on patient's insurance eligibility. Choose an alternate drug if required.
  6. Click on 'Add & ePrescribe' button to electronically send prescription to required pharmacy.
