Associating Procedure Codes with Lab Tests

This feature enables Practices to seamlessly add Procedure Codes to Invoices when specific Lab Tests are included in an Encounter.

Procedure codes associated with the Lab Tests can be configured under the 'Settings > Billing > Procedure Code for Lab Tests' section.

For instance, if a Practice consistently uses Procedure Code 87880 in their Invoice when performing an in-house Strep Test, they can configure this Procedure Code to populate in the Invoice automatically. This configuration eliminates the need to manually search and add Procedure Codes related to Lab Tests each time.

Configuring Procedure Codes for Lab Tests

To populate the Procedure Codes for a Lab Test during Invoice generation automatically, Practices must enable the 'Auto-populate Procedure Codes in Invoice for Lab Test in Chart Note' setting under the 'Settings > Billing Settings > Procedure Code for Lab Tests' section.

To associate Procedure Codes to the Lab Test, follow the steps below.

  1. Choose the Lab from the drop-down menu. All labs and tests added under the 'Settings > Lab/Image > Customize Labs' section will be listed.

  2. Search and add the Procedure Code to the Lab test. The charge of the Procedure Code shown here is from the Master Fee Schedule. However, the actual charge may vary depending on the Fee Schedule selected in the Invoice.

  3. Click 'Save' to associate the Procedure Codes with the Lab Test.
  4. Practices can use the '+' icon to associate a maximum of three Procedure Codes to a Lab.
  5. Click the 'Edit' option to associate a different Procedure Code or unmap the Procedure Code.

  6. To unmap Procedure Codes of multiple Lab tests at once, select the Lab tests and click the 'Unmap Procedure Code for Lab Tests' button.

Auto-populating Lab Procedure Codes to the Invoice from Lab Tests

Once the above configuration is complete, Practices can add Lab Tests to the Chart Note. To learn more about adding Labs to the Chart Note, Click Here.

Mapping Diagnosis Codes to the Lab Tests

Practices can map the Diagnosis Codes (Dx) for a Lab Test in the Chart Notes section. The Diagnosis Codes mapped to the Lab Tests will be used for the associated Procedure Codes during Invoice generation.

To map the Diagnosis code, click the 'Map Dx' option.

All past Diagnosis (Dx) codes used for the Patient will be available for mapping. While mapping, if the Dx code is not already included in the Chart Note, it will be automatically added during Invoice generation.
